About AfroAtlas
Our Mission
AfroAtlas is a free, open-access platform dedicated to showcasing Africa's UNESCO World Heritage Sites. We believe that Africa's cultural and natural heritage deserves to be explored, understood, and celebrated by people around the world.
Our interactive map brings together over 100 heritage sites across the African continent, making it easy to discover the extraordinary diversity of Africa's cultural and natural treasures — from ancient cities and sacred groves to volcanic landscapes and marine ecosystems.
Whether you're planning a trip, researching for a project, or simply curious about Africa's heritage, AfroAtlas is your starting point.
Our Data
AfroAtlas uses data from UNESCO's World Heritage List, enriched with geographic coordinates, descriptions, and categorisation. All heritage site information is sourced from publicly available UNESCO records.
We strive to keep our data accurate and up-to-date. If you notice any errors or have suggestions for improvement, please get in touch.
Supporting Heritage Tourism
AfroAtlas partners with trusted travel companies to help you plan visits to heritage sites. When you book a tour, accommodation, or experience through one of our affiliate links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.
This revenue helps us maintain the platform and continue our mission of making African heritage accessible to all. For full details, see our Affiliate Disclosure.
